Shamrocks, Leprechauns, and a Strange Analogy

Have you seen any leprechauns today? I followed one that was sniffing around the leprechaun traps I had set up. I tracked him as far as I could, but I lost him behind a toadstool. There must be a secret tunnel underneath it. While I was hunting for that tricky leprechaun, I found a four leaf clover.

I am an avid four leaf clover hunter. Maybe it comes from all the Irish genes floating inside of me. I have found oodles of them. I have even found five and six and more leafed clovers. Any time I am walking near grass one of my eyes is scanning for one of those rare clovers. Sometimes two clovers will be twisted together making it look as if it is one of those rare finds. I do a double take, not quite sure if it is something special or not. But a closer examination always reveals the truth. When I find the real thing, though, I always know it instantaneously. It is just right. Sometimes the wrong ones can make you think you have something special. The real four leaf clovers, though, are unmistakable.

I think love is like that. It is like finding a four leaf clover. Sometimes a person may seem right for us like two clovers twisted together. In reality, though, it is just circumstances holding things together by a tiny stem. When the wind blows or some bunny walks through, the clovers separate.

But when it really is something special, it is unmistakable. You just know. Circumstances can’t shake off the leaves or change the magic of its existence. Love with my husband is like that. We lucked out finding each other. We had something special right from the beginning. Nothing has changed that so far.

If you are still looking for love, keep your eyes open. Wait till you get one of those rare finds before you pick. Don’t just settle for any old clover in the field.
